AI Essentials
The 6 things you need to know and do for the survival of your firm.
The genie is out of the bottle. It will stay out. Learn to tame it if you value survival.
- AI was built to mimic Human Intelligence. Our brains are wired to make educated guesses when we don’t have enough information for an ensured decision. AI is the same. It makes guesses and can be very wrong. Problem: AI does not tell us when it’s guessing unless it gets caught out. Check everything AI tells you. Carefully.
- The firms who master the AI beast will save massive amounts of time and deliver projects more economically. You will out-perform your competitors and take their clients. Is that incentive enough?
- The most important component of mastering AI is learning how to “prompt” it. Prompting is a process of giving your AI tool increasingly detailed instructions until it produces the right outcomes. “If you aren’t getting the answers you need, you are probably asking the wrong questions.” The prompting process is not intuitive and requires training and practice.
- Design professionals have an instinctive dislike for risk. Overcome that. Embrace the considerable risks with AI and you will unlock its strength and power. Using AI requires thorough risk assessment, mitigation & management planning takes time, but you will make up that time, many times over, with performance improvement.
- There is no shortcut to the AI learning curve. It’s an essential investment.
- Design firms who are already well along the learning curve report that “it is critical that AI planning starts with senior leadership and extends to every staff member.”
